Amman, April 2009 – Energy Management Services International LLC (EMS) – the first company to provide energy management solutions (ESCo) in the Middle East – announced its participation in the Euro-Jordanian Renewable Energy Conference (EJREC), which opened under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Hamzah Bin Al Hussein on behalf of HMK Abdullah II at the Grand Hyatt Amman Hotel on April 1st 2009, and ended on April 2nd.
The conference, which brought together more than 350 of the most prominent regional and international experts, academia and investors in the energy sector, aimed at raising awareness on renewable energy as well as encouraging growth in that sector through creating investment opportunities and promoting cooperation with Jordan's Research & Development sector, in light of the challenges the energy sector is experiencing, particularly in the face of the current global crisis.
Eng. Luay Jildeh, Country Manager - Jordan at EMS, participated as a panelist in one of the sessions held on the first day of the conference entitled "Energy Efficiency: Endless Opportunities", wherein the speakers discussed experts' estimates regarding the possibility of Jordan cutting down its national energy costs by no less than 20% if the country implements best international practices in energy conservation.
In his presentation, Mr. Jildeh explained how energy efficiency in existing and new construction enables enhanced facility management and operations strategy, as it assists property owners and managers in capitalizing on their building investment by offering customized solutions that simplify facility management and significantly increase the energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the building, while simultaneously providing comfort and flexible control for building occupants.
As for EMS's energy efficiency services for existing buildings, Mr. Jildeh explained that they center on minimizing the consumption of energy through implementing certain measures without compromising the comfort level in buildings or the production level in factories. He further elaborated on the derived benefits, which include reduced running and maintenance costs, increased equipment's life-span, reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, improved building safety and comfort conditions, more rapid building lease-out and sale, as well as the establishment of a positive public image which answers the growing international interest in adopting environmentally friendly measures.
Mr. Jildeh also explained the Energy Value Analysis (EVA) service EMS offers for energy efficiency in new buildings, the objective of which is to ensure that the MEP designer incorporates the most energy efficient systems in the building's design. Its benefits, according to Mr. Jildeh, include capital cost reduction due to lower energy requirements, running cost reduction due to lower energy bills, maintenance cost reduction due to higher equipment operational efficiency and better equipment sizing, and the establishment of an environmentally friendly project.
Commenting on his participation, Eng. Jildeh said: "It gives me great pleasure to be present at this event, which represents a unique opportunity for the exchanging of views and expertise, as well as for networking with some of the most prominent experts and academia in the renewable energy sector. We are here today to reaffirm our dedication to keeping up with global developments in energy efficiency and adopting the most recent methodologies in the field. We also reiterate our keen interest in contributing to raising awareness on this issue, particularly now that it has become one of the most important global issues on the agenda of the world's decision makers in the face of the sharp price increases of energy sources and the uncertainty of long-term security of supply."
