Dubai – July 16, 2009: The Frame, an award-winning film production company based in the UAE today announced that it will be hosting a semi-final judging sessions for the International Emmy® Awards from the 21st to the 23rd of July. The judging sessions will be held at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation on behalf of the world-renowned International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Tarif Sayed the owner and managing director of The Frame says hosting the semi-final judging sessions in Abu Dhabi is not only a privilege but an act of recognition and encouragement: “The TV and media industry in the UAE is now coming of age. At The Frame we are constantly trying to innovate while drawing on our rich cultural heritage and diversity for inspiration. We brought the judging sessions to Abu Dhabi as part of our ongoing support for the industry and to promote further content creation in the region and the UAE, which in turn will result in more regional content reaching the international market.”
Abdulla Butti Al-Qubaisi, Director of Communication, Abu Dhabi Culture & Heritage (ADACH) agreed: “In recent years this country’s burgeoning film, TV and media industry has produced many programs that are contemporary yet uniquely ‘UAE’. This original approach to TV and filmmaking influenced greatly the decision to host the International Emmy Awards semi-final judging session in Abu Dhabi. As artistic and production standards here continue to rise, I can foresee many tough decisions facing the jurors throughout the course of the day’s judging!”
Reflecting the high caliber of material being judged and the stature of the International Emmy Awards, the judging sessions will be attended only by distinguished media professionals. The jurors are all independent and have been selected after proving expertise in the type of program they are evaluating.
Nathaniel Brendel, Director, Emmy Judging added, “These semi-final judging sessions provides the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with an opportunity to get even closer to television professionals in the Middle East, among whom there is a growing awareness of the region’s role in international broadcasting. We’re extremely grateful to The Frame for hosting the sessions and in so raising the profile of UAE and regional programs
Sayed concluded: “The semi-final judging sessions are where we celebrate the TV and media industry and send the leading examples of our high production standards and values on to the next stage of the International Emmy Awards.”
The semi-final judging sessions take place from 9:30 am until 7:00 pm between the 21st and the 23rd of July, at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, next to Qasr al-Hosn in Abu Dhabi.
