Celebrating the conclusion of “Al Riyadi Umniah Super League for Kids”

Amman, November 2009 – In line with its corporate culture dedicated to supporting sports in Jordan, and on the occasion of celebrating the conclusion of “Al Riyadi Umniah Super League for Kids” which involved the participation of over 270 players between the ages of 5-13 years old distributed amongst 27 teams, Umniah – the fastest growing telecom service provider in Jordan – organized a picnic for the members of the Umniah-sponsored Al Riyadi Club’s basketball team and their families at the Al Riyadi Aramex Playground . The event involved several entertainment activities and games, as well as a picnic lunch.

Al Riyadi Umniah Super League for Kids, which was held between the 10th and 20th of November, witnessed tangible interaction by the student participants and their parents, whereby it included a series of competitive and exciting basketball matches.

Commenting on this event, Mr. Ihab Hinnawi, Umniah's CEO, said: "We organized this picnic in order to enhance the level of communication and interaction between the members of Al Riyadi Club’s teams not only on the court, but off it as well. This initiative coincides with our vision of activating Umniah's positive role towards the community and youth through encouraging them to engage in sports, honing and developing their talents in this field in order to build a healthy and sound society, and supporting Jordanian sports and particularly basketball."
It is worth noting that Umniah announced the renewal of its agreement with Al Riyadi Basketball Club for the second consecutive year, placing Umniah as a sponsor of the Club's basketball youth teams which comprise of approximately 400 male and female players between the ages of 5 and 15, and positioning it as an exclusive sponsor of four of these teams. In addition, Umniah sponsors the local basketball championships for both males and females aged 15 and under, as well as the Al Riyadi Super League for Kids, the annual picnic organized for the Club’s members and teams, the Basketball Open Day, the Mini-Basket Travel Teams, and the Mini-Basket Fair in which a group of Arab and foreign teams participate. Umniah also offers training courses for basketball coaches conducted by an international and well-known lecturer, and holds a private school tournament in Amman entitled the "Umniah Back to School Basketball Tournament".
