In line with its dedication to providing the highest quality of health services to all its employees
Amman, December 2009 – In line with its dedication to provide distinctive health services to all its employees, and as part of its interest in programs and activities that support the fight against cancer within the local community, Umniah – the fastest growing telecom service provider in Jordan – announced the renewal of its agreement with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) in order to include all its employees under the KHCF’s Health Care Program for Cancer Coverage to provide medical insurance against cancer with a ceiling of up to JOD 10,000.
Umniah's strategic partnership with KHCF began in 2008 when Umniah joined KHCF’s Health Care Program for Cancer Coverage, and the company plans on annually renewing this participation as part of its efforts towards including insurance against this disease within the benefits that are offered by the company to its employees. Umniah also strives through this partnership to offer all its employees the chance of becoming part of the “Friends of the King Hussein Cancer Center’s Program”, wherein a small amount of Umniah employees' monthly salaries can be donated to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation to help cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Center.
Within this context, HRH Princess Dina Mired, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, expressed her pride in this partnership between the Foundation and Umniah, commended the company’s continuous support of KHCF, and expressed her hopes for further agreements that will help realize the Foundation's goals in providing the best comprehensive cancer treatment for cancer patients in Jordan and the region.
In turn, Mr. Ihab Hinnawi, Umniah's CEO, said: "We at Umniah consider our employees a main priority, and as such, we strive to offer them all possible means available as part of our belief in the important role they play in maintaining the company's advanced position, and as part of our appreciation for their valuable input towards enhancing the company's operations and building on its successes within the Jordanian market. Our decision to annually renew our partnership with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation is in line with our dedication to activating our positive role in preventing and treating this illness, and helping all cancer patients through the donation of symbolic amounts from employee's monthly salaries to the Foundation." Mr. Hinnawi went on to express his happiness with Umniah's partnership with KHCF, highlighting the vital role the Foundation plays in spreading public health awareness on cancer and the provision of methods of prevention and treatment to all citizens.
It is worth noting that Umniah also supported the Jordan Breast Cancer Program through its Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign held annually in October, under the leadership and support of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the King Hussein Cancer Center, with the aim of increasing awareness and education about breast cancer in the general public and particularly women.
The Health Care Program for Cancer Coverage is a non-profit program with a humanitarian mission aimed at giving all cancer patients the chance of treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center. The program offers two ceilings for treatment coverage at the Center, one at up to JOD 10,000 and the other at JOD 20,000 in exchange for small fees.
