Contributing to the enhancement of business productivity and competitiveness
Amman, January 2010 –Umniah– the fastest growing telecom service provider in Jordan – invited last Tuesday the 12th of January 2010 a number of its most prominent local and international clients, in addition to key Jordanian media representatives, to their first gathering that aimed to discuss the comprehensive business solutions offered by Umniah to the Jordanian market and to showcase the latest technology used in these solutions.
The event, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Amman, was attended by a number of investors, businessmen, and managers in charge of the IT departments in a number of government institutions and companies representing various economic sectors. The gathering was hosted by Umniah based on their belief in the importance of promoting business solutions and as a result of the growing and positive impact these solutions have had on enhancing their businesses as they have become key requirements for institutions to elevate the standards of their businesses and increase their competitiveness in the market.
During his welcoming remarks Mr. Ihab Hinnawi, Umniah's CEO welcomed all participants confirming Umniah’s keen to communicate continuously with all leading institutions in different sectors and the importance of working closely to ensure designing services that goes along with the developments in the local market and the needs of different businesses. He also referred to the positive partnership that holds between both Umniah and Batelco Bahrain, highlighting that they work as one team with a unified vision and common strategic objectives. Mr. Hinnawi also touched upon the positive outcomes that were a result of the merging between Umniah and Batelco Jordan with regards to investments in infrastructure and the development of human resources indicating that Umniah is currently building on the successes that were achieved by Batelco Jordan.
During these remarks Mr. Hinnawi also highlighted Umniah’s interest with regards to expanding the scope of its business solutions and the services it offers, which are currently presented according to the highest technological standards, and have a number of key features including wide scope, flexibility, and efficiency. He also stated that Umniah offers a wide array of solutions that are continuously developed and supported with the necessary technical and customer service support that is carried out by a dedicated and extremely qualified team.
The event included the participation of a number of key local figures in addition to the participation of Mr. Danny Chami, Business Development Manager for Cisco’s Service Provider Group (SPG) in the Middle East, Africa, Russia and the CIS regions, as an international expert in business development activities with experience in working with service providers in the region to support the implementation of business promotion strategies. His participation included a presentation in which he covered the effectiveness of implementing MPLS technology for fast and secure connections amongst a number of sites covering a wide geographic area; he also referred to the different technological aspects of the service.
Mr. Hinnawi added: “Our future plans include developing our investments and expanding our business to cater to a larger customer base. We will be enhancing our services in order to build on our successes and maintain the advanced position that we have achieved and have always been committed to.”

Following Mr. Hinnawi’s speech, Umniah presented a video on its business solutions and the company’s focus with regards to these solutions. The event also included a presentation by Mr. Emad Maali, Director of Business Segment at Umniah, on the different phases the company entered during the development of the advanced business solutions, the technological capabilities of Umniah’s network, in addition to the different products and services that the company offers. The most notable business solutions provided by Umniah with the aim of positively impacting the ICT sector including Local and Global Frame Relay and MPLS Solutions, Collocation and Hosting, and Premium Internet Services; all designed to cater to the different business requirements of public and private sector intuitions, both large and small, working across different sectors.
Mr. Maali also highlighted Umniah and Batelco Jordan’s longstanding experience in business solutions. In 1996, the first managed data communication network based on Frame Relay technology was built to cater for the mission critical applications needed mainly for the banking and governmental sectors. This service has been expanded on a number of levels towards the development of the first fiber optics network built in Shmeisani area; the main business district in Amman. The fiber optics network is still undergoing continuous development and expansion.
Furthermore, and in relation to the technological systems that are being adopted in the telecommunications sector, Umniah’s innovation was reflected in a number of examples including the introduction of modern technology for connecting local networks, MPLS Services, GSM mobile technology, its first wireless broadband using the WiMax technology which has been launched under the name “Umax” in 2008, in addition to its continuous efforts towards launching new ‘yet to come” technologies to the local market reflected in the 4G that integrate data and mobile services.
