Umniah Supports the Jordanian International Basketball Coaching Clinic Supervised by International Coach Ganon Baker

Within its sponsorship of the Al Riyadi Basketball Team activities

Amman, January 2010 – In line with its activities that support Jordanian sports, Umniah – the fastest growing telecom service provider in Jordan – announced its support of the Jordanian International Basketball Coaching Clinic organized by the Al Riyadi Basketball Team between the 16th and 18th of January under the supervision of coach and lecturer Ganon Baker, one of the most prominent coaches and professional playmakers in the world.

Umniah’s support to this training program, which included the participation of 150 Jordanian and Arab coaches, comes as part of its sponsorship of the Al Riyadi Basketball Club and its support to efforts related to honing skills and increasing sporting knowledge and information to reach international levels. Al Riyadi’s hosting of American coach Baker for the second time is an important chance for expanding the horizons of basketball coaches and showcasing important basketball techniques that have helped in the rise of a number of basketball stars.

Umniah’s contribution to the Clinic as its main sponsor included the participation if its team throughout the event, in addition to the provision of materials necessary for coach and player lectures, certificates, the distribution of promotional material in an attempt to facilitate arrangements and as part of their positive interaction with all participants in this unique event.

Mr. Ihab Hinnawi, Umniah's CEO, expressed how pleased he was that Umniah was participating in such events that bring together Jordanian and Arab coaches with a symbol of this highly popular professional sport, confirming his confidence that the interaction with world-renowned Ganon Baker would have a positive effect on the methods of basketball lovers and extracting their talent and energy at an optimal level.

Mr. Hinnawi also underscored his pride in the partnership with Al Riyadi Club, because of the important role it plays in establishing young athletes through regular encouragement and support so that basketball will reach new and higher levels of success.

In turn, Ganon Baker expressed his happiness to be visiting Jordan for the second time by saying: “I am proud to be interacting with Jordanian talents, and I see much potential in their athletic future. I would also like to thank the Al Riyadi Club for hosting this Clinic, and all those who participated including coaches and supporters. I look forwarding to visiting this hospitable country again; it has shown many signs of development and I have felt much ambition in its people.”
It is worth noting that Umniah announced the renewal of its agreement with the Al Riyadi Basketball Club for the second consecutive year, placing Umniah as a sponsor of the Club's basketball youth teams which comprise of approximately 400 male and female players between the ages of 5 and 15, and positioning it as an exclusive sponsor of four of these teams. In addition, Umniah sponsors the local basketball championships for both males and females aged 15 and under, as well as the Al Riyadi Super League for Kids, the annual picnic organized for the Club’s members and teams, the Basketball Open Day, the Minibasket Travel Teams, and the Mini-Basket Fair in which a group of Arab and foreign teams participate. Umniah also holds a private school tournament in Amman entitled the "Umniah Back to School Basketball Tournament".
