Commencement of Civil Servant Development Program Activities

Amman, March 2010 – The first workshop of the Civil Servant Development Program started yesterday Tuesday, 2nd March 2010. The program is organized by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development in partnership with Inspirational Development Group (UK), and is co-sponsored by Jordan Dubai Capital (JD Capital).

The thirty participants representing different national public entities will receive extensive training on management, leadership skills and economic policy briefing.

The full program will consist of three training workshops conducted by IDG, a well-known UK organization that offers an extensive range of tailored leadership development programs. Two of these workshops will be held in Amman and one at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.

On this occasion, Director General of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, Mr. Tarik Awad commented: “Implementing training programs for civil servant employees is in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, aimed at developing the public sector, the skills of its employees and the services provided to citizens.” He added, “The fund aims to execute several training programs on different levels in order to promote Jordan’s position as a training center for leaders and reflecting our efforts towards creating public-private partnerships in a manner that positively impacts sustainable development.”

Commenting on the sponsorship of the Program, Acting CEO of JD Capital, Mr. Ismail Tahboub said: “JD Capital’s support of the program stems from our belief in the importance of enhancing the skills of Jordanian civil service employees and our interest in contributing to programs that are in line with our vision that strives to create real and effective partnerships between the public and private sectors.”

It is worth noting that the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) was established by a Royal Decree in 2001 as a non-governmental organization, which strives to achieve social and economic developmental goals in Jordan. KAFD has been engaged in a number of regional and international activities with the aim of creating stronger networks and contributing to positioning Jordan as a training hub for leadership in the region.
