As part of its efforts in saving the lives of children suffering from congenital heart defects
Amman, May 2010 - In line with its efforts in forging rewarding partnerships with various local community organizations with the aim of financing the necessary surgeries to save the lives of children who suffer from a congenital heart defect (CHD), the Gift of Life Amman Society (GOLA) announced its partnership with Hamleys Toy Stores in Jordan.
The partnership aims to draw awareness on the importance of consolidating the efforts of local community organizations in saving the lives of children from less fortunate families who are in desperate need of a corrective heart surgery and do not have the means to perform them. It also sheds light on the importance of creating partnerships that highlight a genuine commitment towards supporting the community.
Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Daoud Aboud, Chairman of Gift of Life Amman, said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Hamleys that underlines local organizations’ awareness of the need to unify their efforts in fulfilling the humanitarian aspirations of empowering our local community and providing children who suffer from congenital heart defect (CHD) with life saving medical care and treatment.”
He added: “We welcome everyone who would like to partake in this humanitarian initiative through providing the needed medical, financial and logistic aid that will undoubtedly contribute in saving the lives of ill children, transforming the lives of those children as well as their parents. We would also like to stress on the important role that the media play in supporting our initiative and in raising the awareness of the community about this issue.”
In turn, Mr. Saleem Khalil, Corporate Marketing Manager at Hamleys Jordan, said: “Our partnership with the Gift of Life Amman Society is an embodiment of our deep awareness of GOLA’s valuable contributions to the Jordanian community, which in its turn enforces the concept of humanitarian solidarity through which we are able to establish a balanced and egalitarian society. We also aspire through our collaboration with GOLA to help Jordanian children in preserving their health and welfare so that they will be able to accomplish their role in building a bright and promising future for Jordan.”
About the Gift of Life Charitable Society - Amman (GOLA)
The Gift of Life Charitable Society (GOLA) was established in Amman in April 2006 as a non-profit charity group inspired by Gift of Life International. Since its inception, GOLA has facilitated over 100 surgeries for needy children from around the Middle East and Africa.

Alongside a series of life-saving heart surgeries provided by a team of Jordanian doctors, GOLA conducts annual Heart Missions at Al-Khalidi Medical Center conducted by volunteer medical professionals. GOLA’s Heart Missions witness extraordinary collaboration between Jordanian and American medical personnel, which promotes the exchange of medical practices and helps in developing life-long friendships – not only between the medical teams, but with the patients’ families as well.
