Aspiring to save the lives of two critically ill children

Amman, June 2010 - In line with its efforts to realize its humanitarian vision and duties that aspire to save the lives of underprivileged children in the Middle East and Africa who suffer from a congenital heart defect (CHD), a birth defect which inhibits the heart's ability to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the tissues of the body, the Gift of Life Amman (GOLA) and in collaboration with Hamleys will be holding its ‘Summer Tastings Party – Saving Little Hearts’ fundraiser at the National Gallery Gardens in Jabal Webdeh on the 14th of June 2010.

This fundraiser will build upon the astounding success of last year’s event that was attended by more than 250 visitors and raised JD 6,000 to directly finance 7-month-old baby Ahmad Ramadan’s critically needed heart surgery, enabling him to lead a healthy life. This year, GOLA aims to double the amount of funds raised compared to last year to help save the precious lives of two critically ill children.

Participation in this charitable event is open to the public, and attendees will have the chance to taste an exquisite selection of gourmet dishes and wines prepared by the finest food and wine establishments in Amman as well as enjoy the soft tunes of classical jazz being played. The event will also be hosting an ‘Auction of Promises’ featuring a renowned and a number of great prizes. Tickets can be purchased for JD 30 at the GOLA head offices, Cozmo and Hamleys.

Commenting on this occasion, Daoud Aboud, GOLA’s Chairman, said: “With the support and assistance of those who attended last year’s ‘Tastings for Gift of Life’ event, we were able to perform the heart surgery that saved the precious life of 7-month-old baby Ahmad Ramadan and rekindled the faith of his parents in the goodwill of mankind. Motivated by the exceptional success of last year’s event and driven by our belief in the strong presence of common kindness amidst the hardships that our community is facing, we are inviting everyone to partake in raising the required amount to perform two life-saving heart surgeries on two babies who are in a dire need of it.”
